A weekend of card-making

This past weekend was a bank holiday here in the UK and I spent a few hours in my craft room attempting some of the techniques from my favourite YouTube channels and Pinterest inspirations.

Thinking of you card inspired by Ann Melvin of Positively Papercraft

First, let me share my attempt at ribbon scrap-busting with a Thinking of You card inspired by YouTuber Ann Melvin of Positively Papercraft. Her cards were absolutely lovely and I was pleased with the result of my attempt, too. It’s a simple basket-weave with coordinating ribbons.

A dear friend over in Wales received this one. She’s not been at work much for quite a few months while she’s been battling health problems, and I wanted to give her a virtual “cwtch,” the only Welsh word I know and will always fondly remember because of her.

Next came a couple of birthday cards, one for a cousin and another for my brother-in-law. With these cards, I “let the paper do the work,” and used paper from the NO PUN Intended paper pack, printed by Photo Play and designed by Becky Fleck-Moore.

Unfortunately, I forgot to photograph before sealing the envelope on one of them, so you only get the inside and outside of one. Simple, and lots of fun to make. Definitely check out the link to the paper pack for an instant smile at all the funny sayings.

A card inspired by all the furniture moving my brother-in-law did for my Dad’s recent home move.

And finally a couple of mixed media cards that I made by sewing scraps of fabric (literally) from my desktop trash can onto cardstock then embellished with buttons and embroidery floss.

We’ll see how these fare in the air mail with their extra dimension and weight; hopefully their recipients, my aunt, and a family friend from my home church back in the States, will receive them fully in tact.

I’m pretty pleased with how these turned out and will definitely have to try some more of this style again soon. I love how they get me onto my sewing machine using craft supplies that are right at my fingertips.

What about you?
